ortho-Directed C–H Alkylation of Substituted Benzenes
Abstract
Transition-metal-catalyzed C–H functionalization is emerging as a powerful method for carbon–carbon and carbon–heteroatom bond formations, and this approach has received a great deal of attention in recent years. The use of a directing group that provides chelation assistance is considered to be one of the most reliable methods for achieving high efficiencies and high site selectivities in C–H functionalization reactions.
This chapter focuses on directed C(sp2)–H alkylation reactions with alkenes, alkyl halides, alkyl pseudohalides, and alkyl organometallics. The chapter is organized by the nature of the directing group.
